Somebody is having a meltdown! And this time it’s our true fashion diva Violet Chachki. Now, you probably know what happened on the first two episodes of Fashion Photo Ruview? Violet and Gottmik were critiquing the looks from All Stars 7 – All Winners Season. Violet didn’t like Raja’s runway looks on the two episodes so naturally she booted her outfits. Mawma.
The internet went nuts. So, I knew Raja was amazing, but I didn’t know she had so much online support. However, Violet – as we know it – just doesn’t care, so she booted Raja’s outfits. Rightfully so, she has every right to do so, since she was asked for her opinion. But everybody thought Raja looked amazing. So did I. I might add, Raja never looked better. Her outfits left me surprised, excited and in awe. I honestly didn’t understand Violet’s reasoning for booting Raja, however what happened after that was truly legendary (in a bad way).
The hate against Violet began…
By now, everybody knows how the fans can be mean to Drag Race contestants. However, it rarely happened with the winners. Well, except maybe Tyra, but that was something truly crazy (remember the bomb threats she made for Dragcon).
Violet received so much backlash and death threats like never before. For the first time she seemed very affected by the whole situation when she appeared on the Roscoe’s Drag Race viewing party.
Everything was just too much for Violet…
On the night when Violet and Gottmik were guests on Roscoe’s viewing party, Naysha Lopez and Batty Davis were the hosts. I have a feeling that Violet secretly confided in them. However, Naysha and Batty later revealed that Violet apparently threatened producers with quitting drag, if they don’t take down the Fashion Photo Ruview episodes.
Gurl. Violet has had it, officially. She apparently said the fans were being overtly mean to her online and that she’s sick of the “cancel” culture. And I don’t blame her. Look at Phi Phi… Oh right, she quit drag…
The producers of the show gave in and as you probably know by now, Fashion Photo Ruview with Violet and Gottmik is not available on YouTube anymore. However, I did watch those episodes when shit hit the fan and I can honestly say, I really don’t understand the backlash. Was Violet wrong? Perhaps. I really like Raja and I’m rooting SO HARD for her on All Stars 7 (Jinkx too). But come on… It’s a review show about drag queen outfits. Hosted by a drag queen. The winner of Season 7 nonetheless. I really think the fandom was crazy for drama. I get that people didn’t agree with Violet (I also didn’t), but to threaten her and make her feel like shit. No, no, no.
What now?
Well, Violet seems to be fine for now. However it’s not nice to see someone so confident be put down, because of an opinion. How do people expect people to be real, if they can’t handle it? It’s a whole different thing to disagree on something, but to threaten and put someone down because of it… Not cute, girls.
I know Violet well get over this, sooner or later. She is booked and blessed. She got coins honey, so no worries there. Her performances are breathtaking and nobody can take that from her. I just wish people would calm down a little bit.
well firstly, people sending death threats over someone’s outfit opinion isn’t “cancel culture.” it’s toxic and cruel and unnecessary, but it’s not “canceling” someone, and anyone who says cancel culture gives fox news vibes lol. people loved her firm opinions on pit stop, but i guess this combined with gottmik as
co-host really just overdid it for people. i think also people get sick of the high fashion skinny cunty mean girl attitude unless it’s in small doses.
