G-G-G-Gia!
She doesn’t jump guns, she is the boom boom gun honey! It’s Gia Gunn! Our favorite COVID advisor. But let’s talk details, shall we.
I personally find Gia entertaining to watch on tv. When she appeared on Season 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she seemed confident, interesting and sometimes goofy, however the fandom didn’t receive Gia very well. After the show she got some hate for how she appeared on Season 6, but still, she had some supporters. Gia got the “clueless villain” edit on the show and was portrayed as being very bitchy. Joslyn Fox even called her ignorant talking about different types of drag. Nevertheless, she served some great looks on the show and became an icon with her catchphrases.
The Drama mawma!
In the following years after her appearance on Season 6, she came out as transgender and has been living her best life. Gia also documented her transition journey on her YouTube channel. Back then, fans were supporting Gia, however that didn’t last long enough.
Soon she got involved in some drama regarding a feud with Carmen Carrera and Farrah Moan. She said some nasty things about Farrah on Twitter and the fandom flipped. This fight between them dragged on all the way to Allstars 4, where the two were competing against each other.
Nobody actually knows what really went down between them, but the drama was certainly petty. Why would a public person like Gia write those nasty comments online about a fellow contestant? Ok, I get it, you don’t like her, move on. To me Farrah seemed like a gentle soul, who wouldn’t purposefully hurt anybody, except maybe her chances on Allstars 4 (JK Kimora). This is a Tweet from Gia about Farrah:
Gia briefly explained on Allstars 4 the beef stems from Farrah sticking her nose into Gia’s personal life. “She tried to go about patching up a relationship between me and another person in… an inappropriate way,” she explained. “And while I’m at work, they show up drunk and so I kinda let her have it and the other girl have it at the same time.”
Yes Gia, let them have it… Cause it’s really cute to do that publicly, since you know how the fans will react.
A COVID expert, absolutely!
Oh Gia… And then, COVID came. Nobody knew exactly why all those people fell ill with this mysterious pneumonia. Suddenly it was a virus, that had the world in it’s claws. People were asked to quarantine, wear masks, wash hands and keep social distancing. Even in 2021 the virus is real and affecting many lives across the globe.
Now Gia had her own opinion on the matter. She made this video, which has been since deleted:
Of course she was met with backlash. Things were not OK back then and Gia was in denial. Farrah tweeted this:
When Gia saw the reaction she got, she backtracked and released another video supporting measures against COVID. Oh well, I guess she didn’t have other choice, since many RuGirls came for her and honestly, I didn’t get any apologetic vibes from her in that following video. It seemed like a PR move to stop the further Gia hate train. This was the video she released as an “apology”:
She got it, literally…
Well, the story doesn’t end here of course, because ironically Gia got COVID this year and she immediately tweeted, saying, “I just tested positive for Covid. Put on your f…ing masks!!
How weird of her to do that, since she was so against Covid measures… Nonetheless, some of her sisters felt confused and appalled. In fact, Mrs. Kasha Davis roasted her like bacon on Twitter:
Gia Gunn later blocked Kasha Davis and she replied with a cheeky Tweet:
I’m still happy Gia got through COVID without any major consequences, but she handled the media poorly. She later apologized and said, she grew from this experience. Well, I certainly hope she did. I don’t know what Gia was thinking, if she was thinking at all. Maybe she read too many Santino’s Tweets.

Although Gia’s behavior is questionable and frankly, sometimes even wrong, I think she has a star quality about her. Let’s admit it, she is reality tv gold. I lived for her bitchy responses on Allstars 4, for example, “Soak what up? Maybe the sweat off her forehead.” She really was entertaining, but she is not without her faults. Nobody is. Nevertheless, I think she should learn and grow from everything, since she is a public figure and we know how the Drag Race fandom works. Start patching things up Gia, it’s about time.
