Finally, the two groups of queens merge and this episode we get two twists! The two eliminated queens (Daya Betty and Orion Story) return for a second chance at snatching the crown. This rubbed some of the queens the wrong way and fully understandably. June Jambalaya expressed her frustration with Orion, also Kornbread shared her opinions in Untucked, saying it’s natural for queens to feel this way, when another competitor comes back. The second twist was the Chocolate gimmick. We already knew something was up, since the promo was already candy themed. Each competitor had to choose a chocolate bar. The twist is, when two bottom queens lip sync and the losing queen has to sashay, she opens the chocolate bar and if there is a gold bar inside she gets to stay another week. So basically, if a queen is lucky, she gets another chance.
Here is a sneak peek of the episode:
Main Challenge – Two Fashion Balls Challenge!
Oh, the contestants found a dead dragonfly in the workroom. Kornbread offered 1000 dollars to Daya Betty, if she eats the insect, which she did. Also, Kornbread is reality TV gold! She even obliviously called Daya Betty Dayabettica, not even realizing that’s not her drag name. There were also some heartfelt moments. Like Kerri sharing her story about transitioning and Kornbread emotionally crying about the whole situation, since she had a tough childhood. Willow Pill had a rough time with this challenge. She has been diagnosed with cystinosis, a kidney disease that causes problems with her eyes, throat, and muscles. Naturally she couldn’t overuse her hands in the sewing challenge, because of her disease. Kornbread tried to help Willow as much as she could.
Runway Looks! Hide and Chic Ball!
Week one queens had to serve three looks at the Hide and Chic Ball: first look was Zebra Print Resort, second look was Leopard Evening Gown Down and third look was a design challenge with the theme Wedding Gown Eleganza. The main thread for this group was obviously animal print inspired looks.
Alyssa Hunter
Her looks were mediocre to me, except her second look, which was fabulous. The shape, the print, the glamour! Second look was dope. “Wedding” look was underwhelming and in no way wedding at all. Also, that bouquet looked like something out of the swamp.
Bosco
Bosco’s looks were “meh” to me. Nothing outstanding, just fine. Her wedding look was weird – where is she getting married?
Willow Pill
I liked all of her looks. The second one was very interesting, since she chose the black on black leopard print. That was genius, because she stood out from the rest of the queens. Wedding look was not my favorite, but it’s still amazing how she managed to make this look in such a short amount of time.
Kerri Colby
Kerri served some good looks. I liked her second one with the spinning hat, the other two were just ok for me.
Kornbread
Not my favorite of the night. Didn’t like any of the outfits particularly. I still don’t like how she goes over the top with presenting the looks on the runway. Like, girl, we know you have personality. Can you just walk normally down the runway without popping your eyes out like you have thyroid problems?
Orion Story
None of the looks were outstanding. She did fine, but nothing amazing.
June Jambalaya
No. Just, no. Her first look was somewhat presentable, but the second one swallowed her up. She even tripped on the main stage. The third look was underwhelming to say the least. She held her “bouquet” in front of her during the whole presentation and she looked uncomfortable in the outfit.
Runway Looks! Red White and Blue Ball!
Week two queens had to serve three looks at the Red White and Blue Ball: first look was Red Hot Resort, second look was Evening Gown Down: All in White and third look was a design challenge with the theme Wedding Gown Eleganza in Red, White and Blue. Main thread for this group were obviously USA inspired looks.
Daya Betty
I liked her first look – so fun and bubbly. Daya’s second look was ok, but nothing memorable. Her third look, however, was a win for me. How she managed to create that outfit in such a short amount of time is baffling. The wedding look was fun, fierce and I liked the hair with it. A good week for her.
Angeria Paris VanMichaels
What a stunning queen. She looked amazing and her outfits were polished to the max. I have nothing to say, Angeria was my favorite of the night.
Deja Skye
Deja is a seamstress, so she thought she would’ve excelled in this challenge. While I think her looks were nothing special, her sewing skills are undeniable. I don’t like the purple hair in the first look, she could have used a light brown or blonde wig. The second one looks like a regular suit, nothing drag about it. The third one is a mess, although a well constructed mess. I don’t like the lazy placement of the blue and white fabric – it just kind of hangs there. Overall, I’m unimpressed.
Jasmine Kennedie
Not impressed by Jasmine this episode. Her first look was stupid with the claws, it wasn’t funny or interesting. The second one didn’t fit the brief in my opinion. It looked like a ballerina dress with heels. The third one was a gown, but a boring one and predictable nonetheless. Meh.
Jorgeous
She served some classy, glamorous outfits this episode. I won’t lie, I felt a little bored watching her on stage. The looks were ok, but nothing fabulous. The resort look was not resort at all, just a cocktail dress. The second look in all white was better, but boring. Wedding look was awful, it looked like a cheap Aliexpress dress. I don’t think she served outstanding looks this episode, but she has an amazing, likeable personality.
Lady Camden
For me, the looks were just ok. Not memorable at all. She did serve us some storyline in the wedding dress, which was refreshing to see and I weirdly like her smile. However, her outfits were just meh.
Maddy Morphosis
Maddy’s looks were awful. The first one looks like a normal outfit from the store and not resort in any way. In the second one, she looked like a white blob with a headpiece. I will not comment on the third one, it’s that horrible. I think she lacks presence on the runway. There was no passion in her expression and the judges saw that. She also needs to pad or cinch. She has no shape whatsoever. Her makeup is also very underwhelming. Not a fan.
Lip Sync For Your Life!
The guest judge this episode was Christine Chiu. Willow Pill was the challenge winner, while June Jambalaya and Maddy Morphosis were bottom two. Lip sync song was “I Love It” by Kylie Minogue.
June and Maddy were both underwhelming in the lip sync. June was just messy, as her dress kept slipping down revealing her black bra. She also had a meh wig reveal and she took her shoes off. On a drag competition? You don’t ever take your heels off in a drag show, ever. Maddy was also very boring… Go on girl, give us nothing lol.
RuPaul eliminated June but I wouldn’t have been surprised if both of them went home. June unwrapped her chocolate candy and there was no golden bar inside, which meant, she had to go home, officially.
