Get ready for some drama! And all that over a BOX! So what’s going on exactly? Well, you’ve probably heard of Drag Race España. The highly praised franchise of RuPaul’s Drag Race with so many episodes scoring above 9 on IMDb. On a recent episode, where the contestants had to perform in a talent show extravaganza, a queen named Drag Sethlas jumped from a box into a split. And the judges were shook.
Now, we have seen similar jumps from other Drag Race queens like Lemon on UK vs The World and Aja on Allstars Season 3. However, after the episode aired, Aja wrote a controversial post on twitter. She said: “Can’t wait to do some thing else on television so people can make 100 more bad copies of it.”
Aja continued by saying she was tagged in a lot of videos for her jump on Allstars 3. Understandably, that can be a little bit annoying. However, the way she chose to explain herself was rather uncoherent.
What Aja didn’t know is that Drag Sethlas has been performing those jumps since 2017. That’s before Aja was on Allstars 3. A fan sent her a clip of Drag Sethlas performance jumping from a box.
Aja quickly responded to this with a statement on twitter:
Aja deleted several tweets following the main statement regarding the Drag Sethlas performance. Fans were not having IT.
The Drama continues
Sagittaria who was a contestant on Drag Race España Season 1 posted a tweet in response to Aja saying: “Americans thinking that Aja invented jumping off a platform? Love, do you know the Canarian drag?”
Aja quickly denied the accusations that she invented jumping off a platform into a split. She said her inspiration came from the ball room scene and voguing. Later she also posted a video of a vogue performance.
Shortly, Lemon chimed in and wrote a cheeky tweet saying: “idk about u but something about a girl jumping off a huge box into a split that gags me every time.”
Lemon was of course referencing her own performance on UK vs The World. However, the fans didn’t understand her tweet and wrote her mean comments, saying she didn’t do a good job on UK vs The World. Therefore, the fans were praising Drag Sethlas saying her performance was far superior than Lemon’s.
Lemon clarified the situation by saying she was complementing Drag Sethlas. Soon thereafter Choriza May who was a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 3 commented: “people CHILL! This is literally a compliment, we’ve been talking about how much we loved the episode since it aired!”
Aja later posted that she has had enough of the drama and she was originally not ever comparing Drag Sethlas to herself. However, that didn’t stop the other Drag Race España from tweeting.
A few more Queens got involved in the drama
Sagittaria later replied to Aja with a tweet saying that a lot of Spanish people were offended by her for saying she was unimpressed by Sethlas’ performance.
Aja replied to her with a tweet saying: “I understand your frustration let me just start by saying that. However none of the initial things that I first wrote were about the performance, I actually discovered the performance through the response that garnered. I admire all of you obviously as artists and the new girls.”
Sagittaria thanked Aja for the apology and she later even apologized herself. Sadly it didn’t stop there.
Dovima Nurmi who was also a contestant on Drag Race España Season 1 chimed in saying: “It’s just that it would screw me to be the paella face and try to compare myself with Sethlas. Take your pill and stay in your lane.”
Dovima indirectly called Aja “paella face”. Obviously referring to Aja’s face and looks which was kind of a low blow honestly.
Aja came with a vengeance and read Dovima for attacking her appearance. This was Aja’s response:
This fight between Aja and Dovima intensified when Dovima called Aja “ugly.” They went on and on. Aja retaliated by saying Dovima looked like Violet on testosterone. OMG!
However, Dovima wasn’t phased and she tweeted: “Nothing bothers me when it comes from a person with a face of a little pig.”
Oh, but it’s not over yet. No, no, no. Dovima later posted a pic with paella (the food) and Aja replied with “You ain’t do nothing. I still look better than you. You are wack and weak. Lacking talent. When I’m in Spain come see me. I’ll fix your face for you.”
Dovima later tweeted a sexually suggestive pic to Aja. Oh, my. This is exhausting… Are you exhausted?
It’s exhausting
This drama has been dragging on and on. However, Dovima and Aja didn’t apologize to each other and it seems they are on bad terms.
I think there’s a lack of communication regarding everyone. Aja tweeted a vague statement and the timing was bad. Then everybody started attacking her. However, that was also kind of her fault. Aja did tweet in a very weird way. If she didn’t have bad intentions, she should have worded her tweet a little differently. However, we know Aja is a controversial queen. She does like to bite back quite often on twitter. Nevertheless, Aja apologized and it’s obvious she wants the drama to be over.
